After the death of a family member I needed a cleaning service to take care of our loved ones home. We are located several states away and I wanted a local company in the Newport News area. I contacted Aftercare and the owner, James, answered the phone. He took care of everything with compassion and was very accommodating to our schedule as we came from out of town. In a very difficult time for us, James and Aftercare took a lot of burden off our shoulders. He even messaged me to make sure we made it back home ok. I call aftercare when my warranty co told me that they didn't clean out a crawl spaces from a broken pipe that had been leaking sewage into the crawl space, the pipe had to be broken for a very long time because of the amount of waste that after care remove needless to say Mr.Redd and his team came on time and did an excellent job and was finished before I was ready for work and his price was very fair and I really appreciate all his professionalism and attention detail great job!!!

He was out within a few hours to assess it and had everything cleaned up with 24 hours. Not only that but his suggestions on what to document with photos helped tremendously for my insurance claim. His team was wonderful, the job well done and the clean up fantastic. They were a great blessing.

We found out we had about a 12 foot radius of raw sewage under a our house because our pipes had busted when we were unaware. Mr Redd came out the day before Christmas Eve and completely cleared it out as well as sanitize and deodorized the area. The price was definitely reasonable and we were so grateful for them to come out right before a major holiday. They were very professional and very quick. We would definitely use them again if needed and they are highly recommended in our books.

My wife and I recently found that we had a sewage leak beneath our house and we wanted to get the problem solved as quickly as possible. Thankfully I got in contact with James, after finding Aftercare through a google search. From first talking to him we knew everything was going to be alright, he just has a way of putting you at ease with the situation. He did his initial inspection and gave a fair estimation on the work. We agreed and he and his team promptly got to work pumping and digging things out that NOBODY would want to deal with. While down there he found that there was a larger issue than what was previously thought but he kept going and finished the job in a timely manner and did not waiver on his initial pricing quote. Once the work was complete he properly treated the area in the crawl space, cleaned up the mess, and hauled the rubbish away. I could not be happier to have found such a genuine down to earth guy that is HONEST and FAIR. From my wife and I, thank you James.

"Honest James" is not as honest as he makes out to be. Hired this company to clean out my aunts home after her death. Unfortunately, she was a hoarder and the mess was more than we could handle. Upon our first meeting James Redd seemed honest and willing to help us. We trusted that he would do everything he said he would. During the cleaning we realized he wasn't concerned about salvaging anything that was valuable. He threw away a bag that was on a bench in the backyard that contained my aunt's tax returns, a phone charger, and an antique cane. Whenever I questioned him about it he went to his truck and retrieved the head of the cane (which he had gone through the trouble to take off of the actual cane) and gave it to me. I cannot help but wonder what else he took without asking.He left an old refrigerator that we had specifically asked him to take. We were exhausted and didn't realize the fridge had been left until after they had all left. I called him hoping he would come back to get it. Nope. We are stuck with it. Told US to take it to the landfill. 2 women (1 - 70 yr old with a bad knee, and one 51 yr old with recent spine surgery) loading a fridge up and taking it to the landfill - SURE, we'll get right on that!He charged us $5,000.00 to do the job, which he initially said would be 2-3 days work filling 2-3 dumpsters. Turned out to be 2 days, 2 dumpsters, and we're done. Now I have to pay $50 more to get a copy of my aunt's tax returns from last year and will end up also paying someone to come haul away the fridge. YEAH. My advice to anyone who hires this company is watch your items carefully. Better yet, shop around for another company.

My wife was a wreck after our rental property was abandoned and trashed. Destroyed furniture, mattresses, carpet, animal droppings, rotten food, and fleas everywhere. This guy showed up to do an estimate the morning she called him, and everything was GONE the following day, even the dumpster. Very compassionate, caring. I called AfterCare/Mr. Redd by referral. I didn't know what needed to be done, nor the state of things, which by the few accounts I was up to hearing were quite bad. I was out of state and was able to rely on him completely. When I got into town, he came by the location to make sure that I was okay, not just with the job, but okay to be at the location working on my dad's papers and just generally okay. For all that this has been and still is a trying time for me, I have been very blessed in the caring, compassionate people I have dealt with in handling my father's death, especially Mr. Redd.

I unwittingly bought a house that had been overrun with opossums in the crawlspace. I called Aftercare and they came over and cleaned the whole crawlspace inside and out in just a single day. The opposums also destroyed everything I had in the garage and they cleaned that top to bottom, including scrubbing and sanitizing the floors and walls. I was so thankful to see what a good job they did fixing all the insulation and replacing the moisture barrier, and scrubbing everything thoroughly. I would definitely use them again in a moments notice, they really do provide a great service.

I had a busted sewage pipe in my crawl space that the plumber would not even attmept to fix until I had the area cleaned out. The plumber gave me James' number and after I called, he was there within the hour. James gave me a estimate and was back with a crew the next day and took care of cleaning out the extensive damage under my house. I needed a family members apartment cleaned out after they had passed. My time was limited with funeral arrangement, family visiting and living out of town myself. This company is truly amazing they were at my home immediately after I called them. They found the broken sewage line that the plumber could not. They dug out all the sludge in the crawl space and the smell was gone by the end of the day. They filled two trucks up with bags of waste left no trash in my yard. I recently had discovered that my sewage pipe under my house cracked and leaked under my crawlspace. I tried calling several companies to try and get an estimate and even explained to the companies the severity of the issue but no one could give me a time when they'd be able to come. One company even suggested the earliest they could come was the following week, and that was just for an estimate! One company had 3 locations and none of them answered. After contacting one company they called me back to tell me they only could do the crawlspace and couldn't clean the sewage and recommended I called Aftercare. Ironically, upon my initial search I over looked aftercare because I didn't see much info on them, and wasn't sure if they'd be able to help...Exactly the opposite!!!!! By the time I called Aftercare, it was about 3 in the afternoon and I was out of options. Not only did James assure me he'd be coming out the next day but he was very thorough in explaining to me the process they would do even down to the millimeter size of the plastic they'd be using for the moisture barrier. The day he and Mark came to do the estimate they even let me go under my house with them and we were under there for approx. 30 minutes going over all the details and made sure all my questions were answered before we came out the crawl space As per my insurance agent he requested I get another estimate but I didn't need another estimate, I knew I wanted Aftercare to do the work. Sorry this is so long but I highly recommend Aftercare! They came through when there wasn't time to waste, while my family stayed at a hotel I replaced the sewage pipe while they attended to the crawlspace. We started on Monday and Wednesday we were done. We were referred to Aftercare when we acquired responsibility for a house in which an unattended death was not discovered for a month. The deceased occupant was a hoarder and had at least two cats left to fend for themselves while the house sat empty for two years. James Redd met us at the house, walked through and confirmed what we suspected. The inside was toxic and unhealthy, reeking of indescribable odors. Whatever had been of value was no longer retrievable. It was not safe to even try to salvage anything. Everything had to go. James was very professional and gave us an accurate estimate and timetable for cleaning out the house. Since we live in another state, we entrusted the clean up to James and his team and returned a week later to inspect the results. We were very pleased and would recommend James and Aftercare without reservation. Now the house can be prepared for selling. Thank you James and Aftercare. You were a Godsend in a very difficult situation.

We had a pest problem in the garage, the rodents seemed to be gone but the aftermath of them was something I did not want to clean up. I saw the Aftercare website, it was the first legitimate site I had found. I called James, he answered and was nice. He was in the area and came over about 15 minutes after I called. I had a quote in less than 5 minutes after he got there. It was a done deal for me. He explained everything, he was very thorough and the minute I gave him the go ahead he got to work, even though his crew hadn't gotten there just yet. He encouraged me to ask any questions that come up. I was very pleased with the work, the professionalism and how nice he and his group were. Though, I would rather not have problems at my home that cause me to call him out to clean up another mess, I wouldn't hesitate to do so and I highly recommend him to anyone needing help.

I had an emergency that occurred at my property in Hampton, VA. I live in Wisconsin. I located Aftercare via the web. They were the only one to answer the phone when I called. James had me a quote for the cleanup within a hour of hanging up the phone with me. He promptly called me back and explained the entire cleanup in detail. After he completed the work, he had me verify the work with someone local before accepting payment. He was prompt, polite, courteous and professional throughout the entire duration. He even followed up a few weeks afterwards to ensure that the work was satisfactory to his own standards. I am hoping I never have another emergency, but if I did, I would call Aftercare again!

Dear JamesAftercare is the best. I had a sewage pipe in my crawl space that came apart and flooded it out. They came out gave a quick and the most reasonable price. The whole process was quick and painless, and the outcome was amazing. They took all the trash that the construction company left under the vapor barrier and made the dirt under it level again. It looked and smelt great. I would definitely recommend them to anyone. THE BEST BY FAR. Thank you so much.

We contacted Aftercare upon discovering a sewage leak underneath the crawlspace in our new (to us) home. After contacting the party responsible to no avail, nor having any luck with our homeowners insurance, James stepped in and offered quick service and professional advice. Not only did he keep us informed every step of the way, he was also very assuring and offered some key advice to make sure we didn't have to just chalk it up as a loss, since this was no fault of our own. Even when news of the state of our crawlspace got progressively worse, he was very comforting and made sure we knew exactly what was going on. The process was quick and completely done on our time. I would definitely recommend Aftercare to anyone who needs this kind of work done. This is definitely one occupation you wish you would never need, but this is life and if/ when it happens, call Aftercare. Apologies for the long review, but I just can't thank them enough.

1/6/13 I used AFTERCARE in my Grandmother's home after her "accident". I could not have been more happy with the service. I called James and he was at my grandmother's within and hour to give me a quote. I wasted my time and got estimates from 2 other companies. I went with AFTERCARE because the quote was way lower than the other two companies. When i called James back, he was there the same day and all the work was completed in less than 24 hours. When he was done, the room looked better than it has in years. I am extremely happy with the entire process. I would recommend AFTERCARE to anyone who needs anytime type of specialized cleaning.
